Why Do Women Live Longer Than Men?
It’s a universal fact that women live longer than men. I am saying for every country around globe, not particularly Pakistan or US. If you still not believe me, take a look at your neighborhood or relatives. You will find it correct. So, the question here is why do women live longer than men? This question has many answers, we will try to disclose answers to this blog.
Women live longer often because of their biology and genetics. This fact may include some cultural or ethnic reasons. A research study recently disclosed that in primate animals females live longer than their male partners. Researchers believe that female primates have 8% more chances of living longer. Human females have a life expectancy of 4.4 years more than their male partners. The genetics of female and environmental factors are the main reason behind this cause. If you look at the history of the longest living humans in the world, you will find that out of every 10 people 8 are women. Let’s discuss the reasons behind it.
Biological and Genetical Reason:
It is true that many female primates live longer than their male peers. Researchers from the University of Lewin, France conducted research on wild animals. Their motive was to trace the age difference of wild animals in between their mates. According to a professor from that university, “We found average age differences between the species. It looks like the female primates have a life expectancy of more than 18% to their male mate. Genetics of specie and environmental factors are blamed to be the cause”. The genetic factor also adds to the life of a female. The female hormones may add to longevity in women. It seems that female hormones are more adaptive to the immune system and boost immunity in them. Thus, female hormones are more likely to increase the life of women. While, on the other hand, male hormones are less likely to add to life of a man. Women give birth to a child, this phenomenon releases certain hormones and antibodies in a woman that are resistant to aging and DNA damage.
Routine Habits:
Routine habits of men make him more vulnerable to life threats. Smoking and other bad habits are believed to reduce life expectancy in men. Men are more exposed to environmental damages. As they do hard risky tasks their life may be in danger every time. Men are also exposed to potential damages like car crash, war. Smoking is mostly associated with deaths in many men. It is also worth mentioning that in many tribal areas around the world, women are often restricted to their houses. This makes women less exposed to potential environmental damages.
Social Behaviors:
Social behaviors may include violent attitudes of men like suicide or murder. The ratio of male criminals is far greater than females. This is somewhat attributed to longer life expectancy in women. Women suffer less from these social problems as they may not have to face outside problems. As I said that earlier that in many societies women are restricted to their houses only. These all factors conclude that women have a greater life expectancy than men. It may be called the law of nature or something else, but is a universal fact. I suggest all to avoid cigarette, it’s a silent killer. A smoker has lives 10 years less than a non-smoker. We can extend our life expectancy by eating a healthy balanced diet. Hope you all understood hope what I said. Thanks.
